Hi everyone, my name is Elizabeth Longoria. I'm the assistant director of admissions for the Graduate School. I'm going to give everybody a few minutes to log on to this session.

Alright, thank you so much for your patience. Uh, we're gonna get started and go through some information here again, my name.

FedEx, Um, if any of you, especially if you just joined in your needing a link for your personal Q&A session, send us a message in that app.

Say that we have a couple of different scenerios things happening.

So again, my name is Elizabeth Longoria and nieces and Erector of admissions for the Graduate School, and I will be talking with you about our denim College of business. So this is a brief video that can introduce it. It doesn't work for you. It is pretty sure you can kind of listen to it and will send this out as of recording as well, just in Baptist universities, Archie W. Dunham, College of business provide grams are formed by our Christian heritage are applicable in ministers, graduate and undergraduate programs, offer flexibility to our campus.

On line format, each course of study prepared learners with foundation in organizational principles, business and market concepts, and Olympics. Students study accounting. Find human resources management, marketing, and other specialties taught by diverse and engaging faculty parts and go from their own rich experiences in a broad range of career roles. Graduates, ultimately, optical skills and bring fresh vision to their companies and industries. The Center for Christianity invitation if of the college business.

Alright, so um Houston Baptist University's Archie W Dunham Colleges business is accredited by other Southern Association of colleges and schools were also a CBS speak accredited and then also forged a partnership with the Mcneir Center for enterprise and for entrepreneurship and free enterprise. So that's a partnership that we really enjoyed it.

Driving I'm gonna go through a few of our programs that we offer.

Um, these should. We should be interested in one of these programs. If you're in this session, it's our master of Business Administration Program or Master of Science in Human Resources Management Program or are Master of Science in management in entrepreneurship program.

Ah, my master of Business Administration offers unique specializations, so you can actually choose any of those six specializations that you see listed there.

It is, uhm?

A 36 hour program. Most people will finish it in about 2 years. One of the unique aspects of our MBA program is our international management experience Corps, where you are actually afforded the opportunity to travel internationally. Of course, right now we're not doing that in the current situation.

However, we will, um, travel again internationally and this trip is actually included in your tuition, so it's one of the courses that you can take in your specialization area.

Uhm, it's available for on campus students up our on line. Students have some different requirements in different courses that they can place in that.

And these are a couple of photos from the most recent trip.

Ah, my Master of Science in human resources management is offered both on campus. I am on line. Our MBA program is also offered on campus in on line and we are fully aligned with Sherm and so there are only so many programs that are aligned with sermon. So we're really unique to be one in the Houston area.

Our Master of Science in management and entrepreneurship program is offered fully on line. This is the different type of program really. For those who have not studied business before and really want to take their business idea and create a business out of it and relaunch their business venture by the end of their program.

And so our MBA in MSHRM. If you do not have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, you have earned something else. That's OK. You can still pursue your MBA. You just have some leveling courses and what these courses?

Will do is prepare you for your core classes, so you'll start out by taking these. You can kind of take these in the beginning parts of your program.

And sprinkle is in with some of the core classes that don't require any other leveling courses as well. So you are able to do that. All of our billing classes are offered on line, so they're really easy to take in conjunction if you are going to be in on campus student to take both, not campus and learn on my class together.

Um?

PMS me program is actually designed specifically for nonbusiness majors who are interested in entrepreneurial ventures, and so they actually don't have leveling courses. Their courses are going to completely different, and so we need to eliminate those for that.

All of our classes in business are going to be offered as eight week sessions, so in normal semester is usually 15 weeks.

But are 16 weeks.

What we've done in our business program is. We've given it giving you kind of an opportunity to take more classes within a semester. Or you can take one class at a time.

In each eight week session and still be considered part time taking two classes in so.

You can do that, taking classes on campus, and we usually meet each course will meet one night a week, usually from 6:00 to 9:30, and then you'll have some on line work as well even when you're in on campus class. If you are a fully online student, then all of your classes are available to you on line 24/7.

All the class sizes are going to be very similar in size to what you would find on campus if they are online, and so we keep the classes small. Your professors are still able to build relationships with you and you're able to really network in your classes because you get to know each other because it's not a giant lecture hall of 80 people most of the time you'll have 30 if it's uh.

Larger, more widely offered class. You might have 40 in the class.

We also have very experienced professors are going to make sure their experiences and connections from a variety of established careers in accounting and marketing. They worked for hospitals for manufacturers for major marketing firms. There's a variety of things that they've done in their careers and they bring those connections to HP yuan. They bring those to their students with their experience, and so it's a really valuable.

So I'm classroom environment.

And also our networking opportunities. So we also have these summer Christianity in business which is part of the RTWM College of business. There are luncheons that this center puts on. They do podcast they do. Blogs are really involved in the business community, really unique in that they offer a Christian perspective in business and study ethics and things like that.

Um, so they're really great to check out, and we also have student organizations like Delta Mu Delta, which is a International Honor Society and business administration. And so our top students in our business programs.

Are invited to actually join, not like a membership and so that's really cool too.

Where application process um it's very similar across all three of our programs and so for the MBA program in the MSA charm program.

There is what's called the peregrinus like I know we have some questions about that and so.

Basically, um.

We have

Um, created an assessment that measures your business knowledge. As you are coming into the program, so you'll take it at the very very beginning after applying for the program, and you'll actually take it again at the end of your program and it measures what you've learned over the course of your program.

Um's and so.

The the way that used in the MBA application is it used in conjunction with your GPA. So once you've paid your assessment, be you'll actually receive a link to the peregrine assessment and you can take it on your own time. It has all of the instructions it may take you our analysis of two hours maximum to complete it. It's not something you can study for or pair for. It's really to assess your business knowledge.

And so you'll receive that all the information about that and how to access it once your assessment fee has been paid on the MSHRM side, it's used a little bit differently. You can actually complete that after you receive an admission decision.

And so, In addition to that, assessment will need your undergraduate transcripts. I know some of you are international suits and have received an international degree, and so you're working with companies like Wes. Things like that. They may have shut down at this time, but we will be able to update your application to a future term if necessary. Same with domestic transcripts. Most registrars office. We able to process those at least electronically.

If you have copies of your transcripts, though, we can accept them to make an admission decision. There will be kind of like a hold on your account to make sure that we get that official transcript, but we can give you an admission decision and you can register for classes.

We also need a resume that is going to be just like any other resume that you would use to apply for a job.

So included your education, your work experience, volunteer experience, anything that you would be presenting to an employer.

I'm your personal statement is going to basically ask why you want to pursue your MBA or your MSA trim or your Ms me. Why you want to pursue that degree. What you plan to do with it, how HP is going to help you get there.

And so it's just a short. Usually I think it asks for 300 to 500 words, but it should reflect writing. It should be professional writing.

And meet that kind of standard. It is reviewed as part of the application. The MSNBC requires those things as well. They just do not have that peregrine assessment.

As far as deadlines, but I also went over this main session, but just to let you guys know again.

And the summer application deadline is May 1st if you're an international applicant. It was March 1st. The reason that the international application deadline is a couple of months before is for visa processing. So if you wanna International is what you would be applying for fall and our fall regular application deadline is August 1st.

And so you still have plenty of time to apply for either summer or fall at the ski.

Um, your scholarship deadlines that are coming up in alumni ship. So if we do have any HP you alone with us.

April 15th you would need to have your application and your scholarship application in.

Basically that's your eligibility is determined by confirming that you aren't alone with each view. The human resources management and management entrepreneurship scholarships fellows offer a program scholarship and those are sponsored scholarships and that has also been pushed April 15th for summer. So our full applicator fall scholarship deadline is July 1st so you still have plenty of time for those but.

The ones I did hear our first summer since as our next term.

If you do need to contact us again, the general Graduate School information contact information, as well as the pen pal online division information. So if you are applying to be a fully online student.

Then you would contact the PayPal online division, the Graduate School counselor direct you anywhere. If you do need these.

And services.

Contact information I wanted to be sure to put those back up again and.

My mom will take any questions this is your Q&A session, so anything you'd like to know, um.

About and I do see a question that the MSP program used to be offered on campus before, and so it did. It actually started out being offered on campus on the weekends.

And so they switched it because they felt like it would be a much better fit to have it offered an on line. Um, the way that the program is structured. It's a very rigorous and completing for classes over the course of two days in the weekend was a lot for the students we did. We have had graduates. Of course we will have more graduates in August from that program.

However, we do recognize kind of the way that the program was working, and it just it is suited better to be an online program. We still have the support on campus for that program. We have the lighthouse lab.

Um, which is something that they make nursing center has created for entrepreneurship, and so there will be some opportunities to actually work in there and use those tools. So that's definitely a great resource.

Um?

If you're working a full time job.

It's really based on what you can handle an if you're taking classes on line versus on campus.

Um, in the different discipline that that requires. But normally we would recommend two classes a semester, which for the for business programs.

Since their split into eight week sessions, you can actually take one in the first 8 week session and one in the second eight week session.

If you're taking leveling classes, you may be able to take more than that.

Some of them are our two hour, 2 semester hour courses, so they have a little bit less coursework, so you may be able to double up on those, but for the core classes we usually recommend two per semester.

You can take more. You can take three you can take for if you want to, but two classes is considered part time.

And so you would be able to be eligible for financial aid at that point.

Three courses is considered full time, so if you are an international student.

You would be taking three classes per semester.

Um, let's see how long does it take for admission decision? And so after we sent you submit all of your required documents. Normally you'll hear back in about 48 hours.

Depending on if we we need any additional information or if we need any clarification on your documents or additional documents need to be submitted, your admissions coordinator will work with you on that, but normally you'll hear back pretty quickly from us and then once you get your admission decision, provided, your accepted registration is now open for summer fall. So we are working to get everyone registered also at the same time.

The other any any other questions did we?

On your mind, I'll give you all a few minutes up. You should have received a information sheet as well as a link to be different.

Degree plans as well.

And so, um, we're happy to answer any questions about it. I'm also an MBA student currently, so just say no. If you have any questions about that, let's see.

For government partnership, so Daniel E. Yes we we still need the financial affidavit.

If your government is providing a scholarship, we need the information about that scholarship in the amount and the government representative houses. Find the financial affidavit that they were going to be providing, that otherwise you will still need to send bank statements.

And find that financial affidavit yourself or whoever the bank statements belong to, but whoever is providing your financial support, that too needs to find the financial affidavit. And that's where the.

Information needs to come from, so you would need to get some official documents from your government that shows the scholarship and how much that is providing. So financially for international students, federal financial aid is not available for international students. Federal financial aid is available for permanent residents and citizens of the USA.

An scholarships, though, are available for international students as well, and so you will be eligible.

For that's for scholarships.

Uh, let's see a minute in about 2020. Congratulations, uhm?

Yes, so if you applied for a scholarship, uhm.

And I'll say it this way if you apply for a scholarship and ended up not attending in the year that you were either awarded or you apply for the scholarship, you will need to re apply for the scholarship.

Adebola, I'm not completely sure uhm about your personal situation. You may reach out to your mission corner to see if we still have your scholarship application.

And if we do and if it still valid, then we can use it. Otherwise you'll just need to submit that application as well again. And so I will.

So this is the. This is our scholarships, so you'll be able to explore external scholarship opportunities.

Those those may change pretty often, but we do offer some scholarship search engines to take a look at an. You can choose your program and.

These links will take you directly to the application. You do have to have an admission application on file with us to apply for the scholarships.

Um and so be sure that you have already applied for the program. You'll have your login to get into your portal in that pile. Access those scholarship applications when you go to our scholarship's web page.

Um, did we have any other questions about anything?

OK about the peregrine investment. So no, you won't need to prepare for the peregrine assessment and there's nothing you can really do to prepare for that.

Uhm, it's really just to assess your business knowledge, their general business questions that will range everywhere from human resources to accounting to marketing, and so it covers a wide variety, and so you may have a specialty area or something that you do better in on one side versus another, and so don't stress too much about it. Do take it seriously, and but it's not something that there's a study guide.

Or or anything like that.

So Daniel, if you are, if you have a document from your University that shows that your degree was in English or conducted in English.

And you've had your.

Transcript evaluated by foreign transcript evaluation company and they have determined the legitimacy of it and have said yes they can attest that this was conducted in English as long as it says that on your foreign transcript evaluation we should be able to waive those that English proficiency requirement. We would have to take a look at your specific documents just to make sure, but we would be able to do.

Yeah.

And so you can actually give them a call and they can help reset your password or take a look to see what might be wrong in your Husky net account.

I don't wanna so, um, if you submitted your application.

Um, and you're about to submit your personal statement. We also need your transcripts as well as your resume, and so once we receive all of those documents, we can take a look at your application. If you did get your degree outside of the United States, you will need a foreign transcript evaluation company to evaluate that transcript, and we will only need the transcript evaluation, not the official original transcript from your country.

So again, I will go back to those admission requirements. There are also available on our website.

And so, um, your undergraduate transcripts resume personal statement. You can pay your assessment fee if you're applying to MBA or a tram.

And then you can take that peregrine assessment.

Um, Daniel, once you have submitted your assessment fee, which there is a link on your status page.

Um?

That will take you there to pay that assessment fee. Then you'll receive your information on how to access your peregrine assessment via email.

Uhm, and then you are able to register for the peregrine assessment and take it online anytime. So it's not something you have to go to a testing Center for. It's available to you on line on your schedule.

$250 fee per semester.
